This can often become a heated issue in the blogging realm — because like most things, it really just comes down to personal preference and style.
The question of whether to post more often or less often is one every blogger faces at some point of another, so I thought it would be beneficial to take a look at a few approaches and the benefits and drawbacks they include.
This is usually the method the casual blogger will elect — because not only does it prevent any obligation to meet a certain goal, it also enables the blogger to blog only what they feel most passionately about, which often makes for the best content.
Some argue that this casual approach limits the potential of the blog, as well as the possibility the blogger has to eventually turn the hobby into a profession.
Overall, this approach is probably best for the casual blogger whose main interest in blogging is sharing their thoughts casually.
This approach is often preferred by those who wish to provide unique content regularly without overwhelming their readers.
The nice thing here is that bloggers are able to connect with their readers at a distance, which a lot of readers prefer.
The downside to posting only once a week is it leaves a lot of room for your readers to venture off and find what they’re looking for elsewhere.
While this is by far the most challenging schedule to stick to (when producing quality, unique content), it’s proved to be the most rewarding — at least in my own experience.
One of the biggest problems a lot of bloggers have with this approach is that they tend to burn out rather quickly and fade away with bloggers block — and while this isn’t permanent, it’s harmful to your readership and brand.
This option is best for those interested in building their profile or brand as a blogger, building their content, and providing more value for their readers.
The approach for you will depend on your goals as a blogger and what you want your blog to achieve.
Are you currently using one of these approaches with your own blog, or do you have an entirely different approach you think works best?
Feel free to share what you’ve found works best for you and post a link to your blog.
